Microtia is a congenital craniofacial deformity of the auricle that involves various levels of severity ranging from mild reduction in size to total absence of the ear. Surgical options include use of autologous rib cartilage or alloplastic material such as porous polyethylene (Medpor) in the fabrication of the framework. Total auricular reconstruction may be completed often in 2 stages and in some cases, a single stage.
